In court you are making an instance first impression on someone major who can determine your life. Have nice pressed pants, belt, shine your shoes, button down with an undershirt and maybe a blazer. Fix your hair up and shave, look sharp. People will take your more seriously. Cant afford all that take $20 and go visit a goodwill. You have no excuse to look like a slob in court. I don’t think you have to…. It’s just that the judge or whoever else will subconsciously think better of you if you wear a suit “Why do you have to wear what’s considered proper attire in court? A hoodie and jeans would be fine..normal..maybe overdressed. Courts don’t like gang-wear, muscle shirts, flip-flops et d’autres choses. Otherwise, they like it if you are clean although I have been seated by people who smelled worse than I. You dress to show the court that you have respect and are not a moron. If you don’t understand this then you are proving that you are a dope and don’t deserve any help the court may be able to give you. Though the law requires the judge and jury to be impartial, they’re still human beings and still form opinions which may affect the outcome. So the last thing you want is for them to think you aren’t taking this seriously. I imagine more than a few don’t want to be there either. Going out of your way to dress well shows you are taking it seriously. It also makes you look more professional and such, and generally just makes for a good first impression. After all, would a well dressed, professional looking fellow really do something as petty as smashing up a bus shelter? And they seem so nice too…
