Slashing through the snow shirt

To say Roach is not already a celebrity in his own right would be wrong, however. Working alongside Zendaya since day one, Roach has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stylists; he’s also become a front-row fixture during fashion month. He prefers the Slashing through the snow shirt Although term “image architect” to stylist, and it’s understandable why: Roach doesn’t simply dress his clients, rather he creates an entire vision, story, and mood board for them. “I live in this fantasy world where women are my superheroes,” says Roach. “I think that what maybe separates me from other [stylists] is that I really work hard to find who the person is. I don’t want to ever change that; I just want to help elevate it; for them to be the best version of themselves.” It’s why he believes he continues to be so sought after. “It’s not the way that I make my clients look—it’s how I make them feel.”Among all his memorable looks, those which involve vintage rise to the top. Roach’s love of vintage is apparent; he has a particular talent for sourcing archival red carpet gowns and making them feel entirely fresh. “Doing vintage requires a little bit more work and creativity, but I always like to live in the era,” says Roach. “People ask me, ‘How will you modernize it,’ and I’m like, ‘Do we have to?’ No matter if it was made in 1920 or 2020, a great dress is a great dress.” In June, he styled Zendaya in a striking Bob Mackie gown from 1998; at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, he also dressed Bella Hadid in a frothy Chanel dress from its fall 1986 collection. “Bella is one of the girls that’s leading the charge—she wears vintage so much in her everyday life,” says Roach, who adds there’s also an eco advantage to it. “The easiest way to be more sustainable is to wear clothes that someone has worn already.”
